To ward off the expected major Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital Kiev, the authorities say they have distributed numerous weapons to the residents. A total of 25,000 automatic weapons and ten million cartridges were issued, Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyj said in a published video .
Anti-tank weapons were also handed out. “Kiev will defend itself,” Monastyrskyi said. He said he was proud when he saw people defending their cities, villages, streets and homes. “They organize themselves, there is no looting or robbery.”
