There is currently a page on Facebook called “Crazy Stories”. In the last few hours we have been receiving repeated inquiries from Facebook users who say that they have never liked this page, but are still a fan of this page.

One of the countless requests:

Literally:

Hello Mimikama team,

In the news on Facebook today I saw posts from the “Crazy Stories” page. I never actively liked this page, but when I went to the page I saw that I should have liked it. I have now unliked the page and no longer subscribed to the news.

We looked into the matter and came across a very nasty scam:

There are TWO PAGES on Facebook that call themselves “Crazy Stories”. However, the difference is not in the NAME of the page, but in the URL

Page 1 : Crass stories (URL: /crassges/)

This site has over 250,000 fans and continually shares content/articles that lead to the “Daumenhoch.net” site.

Page 2 : Crass stories (URL: /crass stories/)

This page currently has almost 100,000 fans and has no content or status posts.

If you click on an article that is published on “PAGE 1”, you will be taken to the website “DAUMENHOCH.NET”

The user can read various articles that always have one thing in common. The user NEVER sees an article on a PAGE, but ALWAYS has to click on “NEXT PAGE” at the END of the page so that he can continue reading the report.

AND this is exactly where this nasty scam is hiding!

This button/link not only contains the “command” that takes the user to the next page, but also the command that triggers a “LIKE” for PAGE 2.

image

In other words, the user clicks on “Next Page” because he wants to “continue reading”, but does NOT notice that he has just “Liked” the second page of the “Crazy Stories”.

You can only see this if you look at your activity log:

Another nasty trick we noticed is that a window keeps popping up as soon as you change the page/article.

The following is displayed to the user:

image

“Don’t forget to share this post if you liked it.” the user gets to read. Since this is a “pop-up window”, every user clicks on the “X” at the top right. The window closes too, but the same nasty trick here too.

The user thinks they have closed the window, but again triggers a “like” in the background. But this time for a different page on Facebook. This is called “Little Messages”. You can only see this when you look at your activity log:

If you have fallen victim to this nasty scam, please simply click on the respective page and remove the “like” immediately.

We really think this is a “CRAZY STORY”.

This example shows again how certain sites work on the Internet and compete for every LIKE.

We wanted to contact the “Crazy Stories” page and point out to them that they made this “mistake” and that they should please correct this. However, this was not possible for us because no contact details or contact options, let alone an imprint, were stored on all Facebook pages Sad smiley
