After registering on websites, consumers receive invoices

  • Websites promise consumers easy credit, despite negative Schufa.
  • After registering on the websites, consumers receive invoices.
  • Loans are not paid out.

With advertising on social media, providers specifically target consumers who have difficulty getting a loan from most banks and savings banks - consumers with a negative Schufa entry or people who can no longer service their real estate loan. Those affected report how instead of the promised credit card with a credit limit, an invoice for registration fees arrived, followed immediately by reminders and collection costs.

When looking for loans that are available quickly and easily, consumers often end up on professional-looking but fraudulent websites. The fake offers are aimed specifically at people who are in financial difficulties, have a negative Schufa entry or have not lived in Germany for long. Sometimes an additional cell phone contract is also attractive. Those affected report to consumer advice centers that they simply entered their data on a website in order to receive a non-binding offer or a free prepaid credit card. A short time later, however, they will not receive a credit card, but rather the first invoice for an admission fee and subscription fees. The costs for this are up to 700 euros.

If the bills are not paid, reminders and letters from lawyers will follow threatening court costs. None of the consumers received a credit card or loan.

Loan despite negative Schufa? Check offers carefully!

The consumer advice centers can help with questionable bills. Uncomplicated credit promises should generally make consumers suspicious. If you are in financial distress, debt counseling is a good place to start. Many non-profit organizations and welfare associations have set up appropriate advice centers.
