There was resistance against police officers and around 100 people showed solidarity against the officers deployed on October 1st, 2016 in the area of Mallinckrodtstrasse in Dortmund
A police patrol car was driving on Mallinckrodtstrasse around 5:15 p.m. when a 24-year-old man from Romania hurled a drink packet at the patrol car and insulted the officers. The officers in this vehicle didn't notice anything of this; the patrol car initially drove on.
However, plainclothes police officers had observed the crime, identified themselves to the Romanian as police officers and asked him to identify himself.
The 24-year-old suddenly began insulting and threatening the officers. Almost 100 people registered the event and gathered around the police officers. The Romanian increasingly incited the crowd against the officials, and the mood became more and more aggressive.
The suspect's 25-year-old wife also intervened and tried to free him from the police vehicle.
In view of the increasingly threatening crowd, the officers reversed their vehicle. As the group applauded, an unknown person threw a bottle at the police vehicle, which was slightly damaged. Parts of the group also blocked the road on Mallinckrodtstrasse.
This threatening scene lasted for a few minutes. When strong police support forces approached with sirens, the group of troublemakers broke up and fled towards Nordmarkt.
The 24-year-old was taken to the police station for questioning and to have a blood sample taken. He is being investigated for resistance and damage to property and his wife for attempting to free prisoners.
