After a 64-year-old man called 110 over 40 times last night, even though there was no reason, the police took him into custody. The officers had previously confiscated several phones from him.

During the emergency calls, the man, who was obviously drunk, talked or mumbled (speaking unclearly according to Duden) nonsense. He was repeatedly warned not to do this. Sometimes he called from a cell phone, sometimes from a landline. After two dozen calls, the officers found his address in downtown Stolberg, spoke to him and warned him urgently. He vowed insight. This lasted almost 20 minutes, then it started again.

So back again. The officers seized several telephones. Apparently not enough. After a few minutes the procedure was repeated. Now the police took the 64-year-old away. He was given a cell phone-free zone, a solitary cell.

The bill for the stakes arrives. Criminal proceedings are ongoing for “misuse of emergency calls and interference with accident prevention and emergency aid.”
