Krefeld – On Thursday (February 16, 2017), the Krefeld police registered two cases in which a group of men circulated counterfeit money.

At 4:45 p.m., a young man bought goods worth five euros in a bakery on Erkelenzer Strasse and paid for them with a 100-euro note. However, the saleswoman found the note strange, so she called her manager.

He followed the man who was on foot with a group of four other men across Anrather Strasse towards Marienstrasse.

He observed that one of the men went into a flower shop on Anrather Strasse. Here he paid with a 100 euro note. As the police later discovered, the 100 euro notes were counterfeit money.

The witnesses describe the person who is said to have circulated the counterfeit money as follows:

The young man was around 20 years old, 1.65 to 1.70 meters tall, of slim build and had relatively fair skin and a slight beard. He was wearing a dark jacket and a cap. He seemed southern and spoke German without an accent.
