St. Sebastian, Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district. – A 40-year-old is suspected of having killed a 42-year-old Hungarian woman in his house at the beginning of December 2016 and then encasing her in concrete. The 40-year-old is in custody.

Relatives of the 40-year-old reported to the police at the beginning of December 2016 that he had left home. A search operation was unsuccessful. On December 20, 2016, the 40-year-old came forward and told the police that he had been kidnapped from his house at gunpoint by four unknown men on December 11, 2016.

Ultimately, he was taken out of a vehicle onto the street by the perpetrators in Sollenau (Lower Austria). In the following surveys, the 40-year-old's information turned out to be incorrect.

To justify the pretense, the 40-year-old said he was afraid his daughter would be kidnapped by Hungarian perpetrators. By feigning his absence, he wanted to bring about a police operation and a strong presence of emergency services near his home to protect his daughter.

Relatives of the 42-year-old Hungarian woman in Hungary reported the missing person to the police there at relatively the same time. The Styrian State Criminal Police Office became aware of this through foreign correspondence and initiated further investigations, which revealed a connection with the 40-year-old suspect.

On March 13, 2017, cadaver dogs arrived at the 40-year-old's home, whereupon he was confronted with this fact. After detailed questioning, the 40-year-old stated that he found the 42-year-old dead and then, in a panic, encased her in concrete. The 40-year-old denied the killing itself.

The public prosecutor on duty then ordered the 40-year-old's arrest. Upon further inspection of the house, it was discovered that the suspect may have encased his victim in concrete in the house below the basement stairs. To date, the body has only been partially uncovered. Representatives of the forensic medicine department and the Leoben public prosecutor's office are on site.
