In Great Britain, the National Health Service (NHS) recently reported that one in six seriously ill corona patients who are connected to an external lung in the intensive care unit is an unvaccinated pregnant woman. The CRONOS registry in Germany , to which around 30% of all maternity hospitals in this country report corona diseases in pregnant women, counted 14 pregnant women in the third quarter of 2021 who were treated in intensive care. None of them were vaccinated. Over the next two weeks, the number rose by another 11.
There are still women who are planning to become pregnant or are already pregnant and who do not get vaccinated.
“It is difficult to understand why women who want to have children or are pregnant still refuse the offer of the corona vaccination today,” says Albring. “It's not particularly brave, it's more sad. Each of these women is exposing themselves and their unborn baby to a completely unnecessary risk to their lives, while the vaccination is harmless after reviewing numerous studies involving many thousands of pregnant women.”
