The claim

Elon Musk's Twitter account appears to have been suspended.

Our conclusion

A fake account has been suspended that only looks like the real account due to the appearance of the letters L and i.

A long-planned withdrawal or a spontaneous decision? Elon Musk no longer wants to buy because, in his opinion, they have violated the takeover agreement, but Twitter now says that canceling the purchase is unlawful .
But is Twitter so angry that they even suspended Musk's verified account?

The claim

A tweet on Twitter is widely distributed: A screenshot apparently shows that Elon Musk's account has been suspended:

The screenshot isn't even fake, because if you click on the link in the tweet, you actually get to a suspended account (see HERE ):

Elon Musk Suspended? Source: Twitter

But he's still there?!

However, if you don't click on the link in the tweet, but instead search for the entrepreneur's account directly on Twitter, you will find that it was not deleted at all (see HERE ).
What magic is at play? It's apparently the same account:

The same account? No!
The same account? No!

An X for a U (or an I for an L)

The trick is that the suspended account only looks like it's called @elonmusk, but in reality it was called eIonmusk - with a capital i instead of a small L.

You can see it most clearly if you copy the names of both accounts into a text editor, which we have done for you here:

MIMIKAMA
An I for an L

The fake account took advantage of the fact that a capital i looks like a small L in browsers - and since the user behind it apparently pretended to be the real Musk, he was suspended.

Conclusion

The entrepreneur's real account is still there, but a fake account has been suspended - which a surprising number of people still believe without even checking, including ( who is really surprised?) many QAnon supporters. So Twitter may certainly be mad at the entrepreneur, but they didn't go that far.
