By publishing images, the Berlin police are asking for help in finding two suspects who are said to have injured a couple in Kreuzberg in the early hours of March 4, 2017.

For trivial reasons, according to the couple, there was an argument at around 4 a.m. at the Mehringdamm subway station, in which the 33-year-old man was initially hit in the face by a perpetrator. Two other men then rushed over and also punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

While he was lying on the ground, they kicked the 33-year-old in the head. Passengers noticed what was happening and pulled the injured man and his 33-year-old companion into a carriage of the subway train that had already arrived. The three men got into another car on the same train. The trio got out at the Südstern subway station, rushed to the carriage in which the injured man was and tried to pull him out of the carriage.

At the same time, the perpetrators tried to snatch his companion's handbag, but failed due to resistance. Finally, one of the men threw a beer bottle towards the injured man before the thugs managed to escape.

While the 33-year-old woman suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment, the man was taken to a clinic for inpatient treatment with serious injuries.

The suspects are described as follows:

  • Southeast European appearance
  • 17 to 20 years old
