Every day, people allow themselves to be persuaded by fraudsters to make ill-advised withdrawals of money. Not a woman like that in Hohenöllen.
“ If you pay a fee of 700 euros, you will receive a five-figure winnings payout ,” the 63-year-old was told by telephone. And even though the caller even knew some of the person she was calling, she couldn't be persuaded to pay in advance. She ended the conversation and called the police.

Never accept advance payments when promising prizes!
Even if you have taken part in a game of chance played by the alleged caller in the past, the advance payment required is a clear sign of disreputable behavior. Before disposing of any money, you should request a letter, talk to other people about it and at least “sleep on it.”

The desire to win money should not exclude all rational consideration! According to the saying “There has to be this much time!”, the caller should be put in their place. Most of the time, if the person being called behaves accordingly, the fraudsters end the call. However, if, for example, a recall is suggested to any organization for review, this must also be viewed critically. Telephone numbers can be manipulated and additional “roles” can be filled by accomplices.
If in doubt, it is advisable to call the police. Often the fraudsters' scams are already known or can be identified as such.
