Düsseldorf: On behalf of the Aachen public prosecutor's office, investigators from the LKA NRW and the Aachen and Düren police are processing two investigations into robberies of financial institutions in Aachen in 2012 and in Düren in 2015.

After a robbery at the Sparkasse Düren-Lendersdorf on September 25, 2015, a phantom image of the previously unknown perpetrator was created.

Another accomplice is likely to be Rahim DIREKCI, who has been on the run from the Krefeld correctional facility since 2007.

The perpetrators' approach to the robberies was similar:

A perpetrator sneaks into the bank before or during regular opening hours. Here he stays hidden and arranges for the bank's first employees to appear the next day. He forces them to hand over their cash holdings.

The perpetrators used technical aids such as video transmission technology and key-like tools to carry out the crimes.

The perpetrators are suspected of having committed further bank robberies in Rhineland-Palatinate (Bad Münster am Stein-Ebernburg and Kirchen / Sieg) and in Bavaria (Augsburg).

From Monday, January 30, 2017, wanted posters will be posted in the south-western region of North Rhine-Westphalia, particularly in the Aachen area, in Bavaria and in Rhineland-Palatinate. The posters show the phantom image of the unknown perpetrator and a picture of the fugitive Rahim DIREKCI.
