Health insurance companies finance Muslim husbands as spa companions!

A text has been circulating on social media for four years in which it is claimed that health insurance companies co-finance the husband as a spa companion when Muslim women go to spas.

The status post as wording:

Hard to believe, right?

If a Muslim woman is approved for a treatment by an Austrian health insurance company, her husband automatically has the right to go on the treatment with her***! (Due to their faith, Muslims are not allowed to undergo treatment without being accompanied by their husband...) *** Nothing against it if he pays for it himself, but they don't have to! (The treatment is then rejected for us and there are more and more Muslims.) ************ This is not “foreigner hate”, but just another moral pattern, as it happens in Austria!

What does the OÖGKK say about this?

The OÖGKK is the Upper Austrian regional health insurance fund . As such, she should know about it. And she does that and defended herself against this claim on her Facebook page in 2017 and also offers that you can contact her directly.

Is it true what the OÖGKK argues?

Let's start with the definition of cures. These are referred to in the law as “measures to strengthen health”. However, there is no legal entitlement to this, so they do not have to be granted, but can be granted, see § 155 ASVG : “ The health insurance providers can grant measures to consolidate health, taking into account the progress of medical science and taking into account their financial capacity. “

Considering the fact that most regional health insurance companies have no longer covered travel costs for a spa stay for over a decade, this claim is already false.

But it goes even further, after all it's about the Muslim husband as an accompanying person, and the regulations are even stricter: The costs for an accompanying person are only reimbursed if they are traveling with you for medical reasons, i.e. if the person who applies for a spa stay , needs a constant companion for medical reasons, i.e. a carer or supervisor. There is no mention anywhere of reimbursement of costs for an accompanying person for religious reasons.

And even if a Muslim husband credibly assures that he has to go along for medical reasons? Then this would also be unlikely, as spa companies are set up to provide any constant care that may be necessary.

And what about the passage in the Quran?

Stop the Right website has asked the Islamic religious community directly about this.
They received the succinct answer: “Such nonsense!”. When asked, it was explained that so far neither insured persons nor insurance companies have ever made or received a request relating to the husband being accompanied as a companion for religious reasons. There is a passage in the Koran that, translated literally, says that a woman is not allowed to leave the house without being accompanied by her husband. However, neither the Islamic religious community nor the insurance companies are aware of an interpretation of this passage for cures.

Conclusion

The disseminated text is a fictitious claim that has absolutely nothing to do with practice. Due to the strained finances, health insurance companies are reluctant to finance treatments anyway. The text suggests that a certain religious group, namely Muslims, would be preferred, which is simply wrong.

This text is therefore exactly what it claims not to be: anti-foreigner agitation.
