The new “Photo Review” feature is designed to inform you when someone uploads a photo that includes you - even without being tagged.

As Bento reports, Facebook has expanded its facial recognition software.
Facebook says in its blog entry that it uses the same technology that is used to recognize friends in photos.
The new function will be called “Photo Review” and will protect users from images being distributed without their consent.
As soon as someone uploads a photo in which Facebook recognizes a user's face, they will be informed.
So if a warning appears, you can decide for yourself whether you want to be tagged in the picture or not.

Put an end to scammers

This function can therefore protect against misuse because Facebook gives you the option of contacting the uploader or reporting them to Facebook immediately if someone stranger uploads your photo as a profile picture.
In the case of scammers making a 1:1 copy of profiles to lure the victim's friends, this can be very beneficial.
As always, the function is only being introduced gradually and is therefore not yet available to all users.

Facebook leaves the decision to the users

Everyone can decide for themselves whether they want to activate “Photo Review” or not.
