Police take photos in the truck wreck: Not a fake! – The most important thing at the beginning:

The photo is from a rear-end collision in 2015. The truck driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The police officers apologized for the inappropriate photo.

Serious rear-end accident

We received inquiries about this picture and what was behind it.
In the photo you can see a police officer standing in a crashed truck cab and smiling and making the victory sign. This picture is a photo of a truck driver's cab after an accident on the B 93 near Zwickau on June 2, 2015.

Rush hour traffic was backed up in front of the truck. The driver seemed to notice this too late and hit the truck in front of him. The collision caused the driver's cab to be compressed so much that the steering wheel was pressed up against the sleeping berth in the rear part of the driver's cab.

The driver could only be freed by the fire department after more than an hour and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The federal highway was closed for several hours after this accident.

After an emergency call, patrol officer Daniel G. and his colleague were the first to arrive at the scene of the accident. He gave the truck driver first aid until the emergency doctor arrived and was able to provide care.

The injured man told Daniel G. that his papers were still in the truck, so he got in to look for them.
At that moment his colleague took this photo. Shortly afterwards they realized that this was incorrect. The police officer later also deleted the photo.

“We are so ashamed of it. We were just so relieved in that moment. “We are so sorry,” the officials apologize.
