Aachen/Aachen city region/Oberbergischer Kreis (ots) – Aachen police and public prosecutor's office are using photos from a surveillance camera to search for a fraudster who was noticed in Aachen, Wipperfüth and Winterborn last year.

The investigators strongly suspect that he is active commercially and could have committed other crimes throughout Germany. The previously unknown suspect had presented a fake Austrian passport to various financial institutions, each of which was made out to the personal details of a real customer.

He had sums of money paid out each time and thus swindled several thousand euros

How he obtained the customer data is not yet known. The perpetrator committed his crimes on September 1, 2015 (Tuesday) at around 11:09 a.m. in a financial institution on Adalbertsteinweg and at 11:27 a.m. on Kaiserplatz. On the afternoon of the same day he appeared at banks in the Oberberg district using the same trick: at 2:09 p.m. in Wipperfürth/Lindlar and shortly afterwards in Winterborn.

The police and public prosecutor's office in Bonn had already published images from the surveillance camera last year, but had not received any corresponding information about the person

The police and public prosecutor's office are now asking for information about the identity of the person pictured. The Aachen criminal police can take this on 0241/9577-31301 or 0241/9577-34210 (outside office hours) .
