Iserlohn – Southern European attack scam moves into the northern Märkischer Kreis
So far, these methods of committing crimes have mostly come from southern Europe - the perpetrator(s) puncture a tire and wait until the victims - mostly women with handbags traveling alone - return to the vehicle, then they point out the broken tire and when the injured parties bend over to the tire robbed them - known, this scam is now moving into the Iserlohn area.
On February 10th, 2017, at around 4:55 p.m., as reported on February 13th, 2017, at 10:37 a.m., a senior citizen was the victim of a handbag robbery through this scam.
As a result of the publication, another victim came forward and at least the tire was damaged, but the perpetrators were not successful.
She was also able to confirm the personal description of the perpetrator of the injured senior citizen.
In this context, the police in Iserlohn (Tel.: 02371 9199-0 or 9199-6115) are still looking for a male perpetrator, around 60 years old, 170 cm tall, wearing a gray coat and a brown wool hat. In addition, a small, light-colored car should be considered as a suspicious vehicle.
This man and the light-colored car are said to have been in the parking lot of the local shopping center on Baarstrasse for hours.
The police in Iserlohn are now looking for other victims and/or witnesses who can provide information about the perpetrator(s) or the car.
Police appeal:
Be suspicious of strangers, especially if you are traveling alone. If possible, talk to other passers-by in public places who can look at the damage to their vehicle with you and the stranger. If you find anything suspicious, immediately inform the police on the emergency number 110.
