Mother was at a shooting festival

As the Haller Kreisblatt reports, two police officers took a screaming toddler out of a car in Rheda-Wiedenbrück late on Monday evening.

According to the police, witnesses reported the case. The child was locked in a car in a remote residential area in Batenhorst. When the police arrived, they found the two-year-old screaming for his mother and shaking all over.

The witnesses stated that the child would sit in the car for at least 20 minutes. There was no trace of the parents. The officers broke the driver's side window and freed the child from the car.

Mother at the shooting festival

The little boy was shaking all over and kept calling for his mom. The police officers reported that terror was written all over his face. A tow truck was ordered for the car.

While waiting, the little boy suddenly shouted “Mama” loudly and pointed in the direction of the shooting festival. The little boy's mother and a friend of the mother arrived at the scene.

The mother explained that she and her friend were looking for another mutual friend at the shooting festival. The officers had “a clear conversation” with the mother and informed her of her duty of care. The little boy was handed over to his mother's care.

The smashed window caused damage to the vehicle amounting to 500 euros. The officials sent a report on the events to the Rheda-Wiedenbrück youth welfare office.

Do not leave your dog or child in the car!

This is a good reason to once again publish a clear warning, which can be distributed via social networks, as unfortunately the “car” furnace is underestimated every summer.

High temperatures and bright sunshine can also have their downsides. It quickly becomes unbearable in the car, especially for children, old people or dogs. At 28 degrees outside, the interior is 35 degrees after just ten minutes, and after half an hour it is already 50 degrees. A dog's circulation is much more sensitive than that of a human. Dogs cannot regulate their temperature by sweating; instead, they pant.

The four-legged friends lose a lot of fluid, which has to be replaced quickly. Otherwise, man's best friend is at risk of circulatory collapse, which can be fatal. If you park in the shade, you have to know that it will move quickly. Soon the car is back in the blazing sun.

Opening the windows a crack is not enough.

If you leave it open, you could have problems with your insurance. That's why the police advise not to leave animals in the car, even for a supposedly short time. You are quickly held up - perhaps too long for the animal. In such cases, the police sometimes have to open the car and rescue the four-legged friend. To do this, she has to charge the person responsible for the costs and usually also investigate an offense under the Animal Welfare Act, as in this case.

The famous “I’ll be back in 10 minutes. Sit tight!” can therefore become a death sentence for others.

This graphic shows that after 10 minutes in the blazing sun at 28 °C inside, a car develops a temperature of up to 35 °C. After half an hour you are already cooking at 44 °C...

From the color orange and red onwards there is a DANGER TO LIFE!

Tips and tricks for summer heat:

The risk of accidents also increases in the summer heat. Drinking a lot, preferably up to three liters a day, helps against tiredness and declining concentration. Water, juice spritzer or tea are suitable. You should avoid heavy food, coffee and alcoholic drinks in large quantities.

When setting the air conditioning, the difference to the outside temperature should be a maximum of six degrees. Otherwise there is a risk of colds and circulatory problems. In general, the so-called comfortable temperature is between 20 and 25 degrees. The fan air should also not be aimed directly at the body, otherwise it can cause muscular tension.

A tip for parking: On hot summer days, the surfaces inside the car can heat up to well over 60 degrees. The dashboard, steering wheel and gear knob can become so hot that you can even burn your skin. If you can't find a shady parking space, you should cover these parts inside the vehicle with the help of a towel, for example. Or cover the windows with sun protection when leaving the car.
