Russian President Vladimir Putin denied in a phone call with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz that Russian troops were bombing Ukrainian cities and dismissed such information as fake, the Kremlin said.
Putin said reports of "the alleged ongoing airstrikes on Kiev and other major cities are gross propaganda fabrications," the Kremlin said in a statement.
He added that dialogue on Ukraine would only be possible if Russian demands were met.
Putin “confirmed that Russia is open to dialogue with the Ukrainian side, as well as with everyone who wants peace in Ukraine.
“But on condition that all Russian demands are met,” the Kremlin said. These include Ukraine's neutral and non-nuclear status, its "denazification", the recognition of Crimea as part of Russia and the "sovereignty" of the separatist areas in eastern Ukraine.
“The hope was expressed that the representatives of Kiev would take a reasonable and constructive position at the planned third round of talks,” the Kremlin added.
