The following was published on the Dotmundecho website on January 15, 2015:
A 16-year-old girl from Dortmund who was walking on Moltkestrasse in the eastern city center on Wednesday (January 14, 2014) [sic] around 9 p.m. was lucky in misfortune.
When she was suddenly embraced by a man who tried to rape her, a courageous witness intervened and chased the perpetrator away. The victim was able to escape to a friend's nearby apartment. The police are now looking for the criminal and are also asking the unrecognized helper to get in touch.
Then on January 28, 2015 this message:
The crime could only be prevented through the courageous intervention of a witness. In order to clarify the case, but also to express thanks for his exemplary moral courage, the affected person is now looking for the man, including posting notices in shops in the eastern city center.
The witness is asked to contact the injured party in order to participate in the search for the sex offender. A special email address has been set up at [email protected] Hopefully, he will become aware of the search through various initiatives on social networks!

POL-DO: Attentive witness apparently prevents rape - police are looking for unknown perpetrator

An attentive witness apparently prevented an attempted rape in Dortmund city center yesterday around 9 p.m. The perpetrator fled undetected.
A 16-year-old girl from Dortmund was walking on Moltkestrasse around 9 p.m. Suddenly an unknown man grabbed her from behind and tried to rape her. The young woman screamed for help. A passerby became aware of the situation. The perpetrator then fled and, according to the young woman, was pursued by the as yet unknown “rescuer”. The shocked victim fled to her boyfriend's nearby apartment.
The perpetrator is described as a 180 cm tall, approximately 40-year-old man with light skin. He was wearing a black short coat and gray trousers. At the time of the crime he was wearing a black wool hat.
