Mönchengladbach, Düsseldorf – An Algerian (18) held a knife to the neck of a German (65) in a wheelchair on Friday evening (October 14th) at 11:55 p.m. Federal police searched for the man and were able to arrest him.

At the federal police station in Mönchengladbach at the main train station, a wheelchair user reported that he was suddenly and wordlessly threatened by a young man with a table knife.
The officers searched for the Algerian using the description given, found him at the main train station and temporarily arrested him. The knife he was carrying was immediately confiscated. He did not want to comment on the crime. The wheelchair user was not injured.



During further investigations, it turned out that the young man did not have a residence permit for the federal territory and was staying in Germany illegally. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the man for threats and unlawful stay.
