Did you get a text message from customs? Then delete them! Because at the moment many people are being lured into a subscription trap with a text message.

Dangerous text messages are being sent, anyone could receive them! This short message is said to have come from customs. But what is behind this message? We look at the process behind this message.

At the beginning there is this SMS. It claims to have been shipped by customs. Apparently there is a problem with an international delivery of goods. The short message does not say what type of delivery it is. The news also plays with this gap in curiosity. For example, the content goes like this:

Your delivery is in our customs center. Please settle unpaid import fees here:

Because of this curiosity gap, recipients are quite inclined to click the link in the short message. However, this link has it all!

Fact check SMS from customs

The link now leads to a website where registration is required. To complete this registration, a small fee should now be transferred to trigger the delivery of the goods at customs.

But be careful! The entire story is fictional. There is no package at customs that needs to be released. Credit card information should be provided on this website and the supposed “import fee” of €1.50 should also be paid. This small fee is actually a confirmation payment for a larger subscription.

However, this subscription is not identifiable in the fraudulent process, so this is a classic subscription trap. The fees for the subscription can also vary (€49.95 / €79.95 / €84.95). We therefore advise you to delete the short message from customs immediately and, ideally, to warn all acquaintances and friends about this message.
