This video shocked many social media users! Are the test sticks for the corona tests packaged somewhere in unhygienic conditions at home?

Could we possibly get infections if we do rapid tests? Let's take a closer look at this video and its origins. In the video, children can be seen sitting on the floor. They clearly pack test sticks for corona tests in plastic bags.

Judging from the first hearing, the speaker you hear is also speaking from tests. The question is therefore justified as to whether every test that is ultimately inserted quite deep into the nose is actually packaged under hygienic conditions.

Fact check test sticks and unhygienic conditions

The video is definitely not fake. In fact, this video has already been noticed and the local police have taken action. We are dealing with a video from India. The corona pandemic is currently hitting very hard in India.

But even there, these and hygienic conditions are heavily criticized and viewed as illegal. We found two websites that write about this video. On the Indian news website Latestly.com we read:

According to reports, the video is from a slum in Khemani Dnyaneshwar Nagar in Ulhasnagars. After the video went viral on social media, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) Additional Municipal Commissioner Karuna Juikar along with police officers visited the area on Wednesday afternoon and ordered strict action against all those involved. Officers also confiscated supplies of swab sticks from the home.

This representation is also confirmed by the Indian Free Press Journal . An article titled “Women and children pack swab test kits without following Covid norms in Ulhasnagar” also talks about a slum in Ulhasnagar.

In the end, it is a form of home work in the low-wage sector in which children are used. However, this unhygienic packaging method for test sticks is not permitted in India either.

There was no use of masks, sanitizers or gloves. No safety measures applicable to this type of work were observed. A spokesperson for the affected community said the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would take further action, according to the Free Press Journal.

A total of 10 households were found on site in which test sticks had been packaged in this way. The newspapers do not report whether these packaged test sticks are used for export due to the unhygienic conditions or for the urgent local emergency in India. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that these test sticks will be exported to Europe.
