Millions of people flirt on online dating apps. Even more so due to the corona pandemic. Tinder alone now has 75 million active users every month (source: businessofapps.com).

Dating apps promise security. But for some, the date turns into a nightmare. It's not about fraud like the Tinder Swindler - much worse: In the USA and Great Britain, reports of cases of sexual assault after a match, so-called date rapes, are increasing.

Our research now shows that advice centers in Germany are now increasingly warning about date rape on dates that were arranged via dating apps. Those affected criticize the hesitant approach of dating app providers to prevent such attacks and help victims.
