PI Leer/Emden - Emden - The police in Emden recently received a tip about a possibly fraudulent sales event that was declared as a trip to a tourist attraction in a major northern German city.

As part of this bus trip, massage devices were offered for sale to participants who had been informed about the trip by direct mail. Ultimately, the travelers had little time left to visit the actual destination. It cannot be ruled out that further trips are planned. The criminal investigation service is currently checking whether criminal offenses have been committed.

In this context, the police point out that such travel offers should be examined critically. On these trips, goods such as electric blankets, cooking pots or similar items are often offered for sale, which later turn out to be of inferior quality or overpriced.

Anyone who purchases goods at such a leisure event can still withdraw from the purchase contract. According to the Civil Code, the buyer has a right of withdrawal, which must be asserted within 14 days of conclusion of the contract.

Further information on this can be found, for example, on the website of the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection ( http://www.bmjv.de/DE/Ververbraucherportal/KonsumImAlltag/Haustuergeschaefte/Haustuergeschaefte_node.html ).

The police are also available to assist you in any suspected cases.
