The introduction of the new Facebook terms and conditions has left many users partly unsettled and partly annoyed.

The blame lies in the fact that many people don't know exactly what these new terms and conditions actually say and what they mean in detail. (In this article we clarify in detail: https://www.mimikama.org/general/panik-die-neuen-facebook-nutzunternehmen-tritt-in-kraft/ )

Now there are increasing reports that users have been called by a call center and are being asked to pay under the pretext that they will automatically take part in competitions with the new Facebook terms and conditions.

Of course, no one participates in anything based on Facebook's terms and conditions!

The fraudsters are simply shamelessly using the current changes to the terms and conditions as an excuse to pull off their scam.

In the cases we know of, the caller pretends to be from the “DeWIN” competition agency. The person called would take part in a competition for which the participation fees are now due in installments. It would involve 9 installments of €59. As the conversation progresses, the caller tries to get the user's personal data: among other things, account number, possibly credit card numbers and, in two cases known to us, even the Hartz IV BG number, when the person called replied that they were receiving social benefits and therefore not be able to pay the installments.

Generally in advance:

Anyone who receives a call using this scam should hang up IMMEDIATELY and NEVER allow themselves to be drawn into a conversation!

Of course, these calls have nothing whatsoever to do with Facebook - the scammers most likely don't even know the victim's Facebook profile if, for example, the person being called hasn't put their phone number there. This is also supported by the fact that a victim we know does not have a Facebook profile. The fraudsters are probably taking a shot in the dark here and hoping that they will catch a Facebook user.

The number we know about this scam is:

+49 (0) 89 72 12 97 1

The following entries can be found for this number in caller rating portals:

http://www.stopting.de/de/number/0897212971
http://www.wemgehoert.de/nummer/0897212971
http://www.tellows.de/num/0897212971

In all cases, penetrating harassment and fraudulent intentions are recorded.

What can I do if I receive a call from this number?

· First of all: Don't get involved in a conversation!

· Ask for the caller's name and the company they work for. If they ask why you need this information, point out the illegality of so-called “cold calls” and say that you need the information for your lawyer. In 99% of cases, you will immediately have peace of mind from this caller.

· Report the number to the Federal Network Agency ( http://www.bundesnetzagentur.de/DE/Sachräume/Telekommunikation/Ververbraucher/Unerlaubte Telefonwerbung/unerlaubtetelefonwerbung-node.html ) or the consumer advice center.

You can find further information and tips on how to protect yourself against such unwanted telephone advertising on the Antispam eV website:

Conclusion:

There is no competition, it has nothing to do with Facebook or the new terms and conditions, it is just a blatant scam.
