Karlsruhe – A con artist was on the “Untere Straße” in Karlsruhe-Knielingen on Monday with a perfidious scam, demanding money from a senior couple and looking around the apartment. However, there was no damage.
According to the Karlsruhe-West police station's investigation, the younger woman rang the couple's bell at around 12:30 p.m. and met the 81-year-old owner of the apartment in the stairwell. The stranger demanded 150 euros in cash under the pretext that his daughter owed her that amount. When the elderly couple announced that they had no money in the house, they boldly looked around the entire apartment and even had their empty wallet shown to them. After she still didn't receive any cash, she threatened the couple with a criminal complaint to the police.
Ultimately, the alleged fraudster failed due to the persistence of the 81-year-old, who followed her every step of the way while she was looking through her apartment. She left on foot along “Untere Straße”.
