With special software, the quality of the recordings could be improved and details could be made visible. In one of the existing videos, an excited Gil Ofarim can be seen checking in. It's unclear why he was upset because, for privacy reasons, the recordings have no sound . According to the newspaper, Ofarim's necklace with the Star of David is apparently not visible in the video.
When asked about the recordings, Ofarim told Bild that the case was not about the chain. “It’s actually about something much bigger. Since I am often seen on television with the Star of David, I was insulted because of it.” The sentence that was uttered, “Pack up your Star!”, came from behind in his opinion. So someone must have recognized him, Ofarim assumed.
A spokesman for the Leipzig public prosecutor's office said on Saturday at the request of the LVZ that the evaluation of the video recordings by the police and the public prosecutor's office had not yet been completed. Not just one, but several video recordings from the surveillance cameras were secured. It is not yet possible to say which of these are relevant to the case and which are not.
Focus also reports that, according to information from “Bild am Sonntag”, the Leipzig police now have “significant doubts” about the course of events originally described . During an interrogation, Ofarim said that he was no longer sure whether he was wearing a necklace that evening.
