Ukraine War: Origin of the Numbers
The dpa Fact Check editorial team took a closer look at these numbers and tried to determine both the origin of the numbers and show that they are incorrect. The result: The numbers come from a Turkish website, which in turn uses alleged data from the Israeli secret service Mossad, but for which there is no authentic evidence. This website is called “Hurseda Haber” (compare HERE ).
NATO did not send troops to the Ukraine war, and there is no mandate for German troops in Ukraine. The actual number of victims is difficult to determine, but various estimates of the number of victims can be found. The Norwegian Defense Minister spoke of 180,000 dead or wounded on the Russian side and 100,000 killed or injured Ukrainian military personnel and 30,000 civilians killed. In November 2022, US Chief of Staff Mark Milley stated that the Russian army suffered more than 100,000 dead or wounded and Ukraine suffered more than 50,000 dead or wounded.
