After the sexual assault on a 23-year-old early on Tuesday morning, the Schweinfurt police arrested a 29-year-old on Wednesday morning. During the course of the investigation, the man emerged as a strong suspect. He will be brought before the investigating judge later in the day.
As already reported , a witness found an injured woman on Fritz-Drescher Strasse on Tuesday morning. It turned out that an initially unknown person had performed sexual acts on her using massive amounts of force. Apart from the psychological consequences of the crime, the victim did not suffer any serious injuries during the attack. She was released from the hospital after outpatient treatment.
After the crime became known, the operations center of the Lower Franconia police headquarters initiated a search for the suspected perpetrator, of whom a good personal description was available. The Schweinfurt criminal police subsequently took over the further investigation in close coordination with the public prosecutor's office.
In the course of the extensive investigation, a 29-year-old from Schweinfurt emerged as a strong suspect, particularly based on a witness's tip. He was found in his apartment on Wednesday morning, shortly before 5 a.m., and temporarily arrested.
On the orders of the Schweinfurt public prosecutor's office, the suspect will be brought before the investigating judge at the Schweinfurt district court on Wednesday. Then it will be decided whether an arrest warrant will be issued against the man.

He issued an arrest warrant against the 29-year-old on strong suspicion of particularly serious rape. After the arrest warrant was issued, the suspect was taken to a correctional facility.
