Four out of ten adults in the US believe they have what it takes to be a superstar influencer, according to a survey by researcher OnePoll on behalf of YouTube Shorts.

According to this, 42 percent of Americans have already thought about creating their own digital presence for companies in order to make a lot of money. 30 percent claim to have already gained a foothold, i.e. to have “gone viral”.

Wide range of motivation

Motivated by money (39 percent), leveraging their passions (37 percent) and being own boss

Additionally, another 58 percent believe that content creation should be taken as seriously as other work, although 56 percent of respondents still consider content creation a hobby.

Almost half of those surveyed (49 percent) believe that they could make a living creating content online if they tried.

Of the 49 percent of Americans who follow content creators on social media, 81 percent take the advice they hear from them.
