Fraudsters pose as employees of the Detmold municipal utility and collect data from customers in order to conclude an electricity supply contract

Stadtwerke Detmold has now filed a police report on suspicion of fraud and is warning its customers about a particular scam.

For about a week, customers of the Detmold utility have been contacting us and reporting that they are receiving calls from telephone advertisers who pretend to be employees of the Detmold municipal utility company or claim that they work with the municipal utility company.

A company name is often also mentioned. Research showed that Stadtwerke Detmold has no business relationships with such companies at all.

There is therefore a strong suspicion that customer data is probably being accessed in this way in order to subsequently conclude an (unwanted) electricity supply contract in the name of the customer(s).

Be on your guard and check such offers carefully! If in doubt, ask your local supplier.

Do not give out any personal data or meter numbers!

Calls to other regions of Lippe must also be expected.
