Northeim - On Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 10 a.m., a 30-year-old resident from Nörten-Hardenberg received a call from a person she did not know.

She was promised a prize of EUR 49,500 because she supposedly came third in a competition. According to the caller, all she has to do to get the winnings is to buy vouchers from an internet sales platform for computer games, software, films and series, worth EUR 900.

She would then be paid out the winnings. Some time later there was another call from an unknown person who asked the 30-year-old to “scratch free” the vouchers she had purchased and to provide them with the voucher codes. Since the woman from Nörten-Hardenberg did not comply with the request to buy vouchers worth EUR 900, no action was taken.

The police once again point out not to accept promises of winnings that are only paid out after using your own capital, in this case EUR 900 to purchase vouchers.
