The claim

A video showing a small aircraft attached to a parachute is suspected to have been manipulated.

Our conclusion

The video is real. The incident occurred on July 15 in a small town near Bruges, Belgium.

Apparently there are doubts about the authenticity of the video, as inquiries show us, but nothing was manipulated: in fact, there was a plane floating down on a parachute (and crashing nose-first into a parking lot).

Here is one of the requests:

“Hello... I got a video and I don't know if it's fake. My friend is a skydiver and gave me some details that don't fit in this video. It would be interesting to find out…”

Where the video comes from

It's not clear from the language where the video comes from, but at least you can hear "nee nee" at the end, which suggests the Dutch or Belgian region.
And in fact, the video apparently comes from Bruges, Belgium:

The description of the video reads: “ A plane crashed in Sint-Andries, near Bruges, this afternoon. Thanks to the parachute attached to the plane(!), the pilot was able to climb out of the plane.

This information is correct! As can be read on the Aviation Safety Network , the incident occurred on July 15 at 2:25 p.m. in Sint-Andries.

“The pilot pulled out the BRS emergency parachute and the aircraft crashed in Sint-Andries, near Bruges, West Flanders.
He probably lost control because the canopy opened during flight. The pilot suffered minor injuries.
Photos from the scene of the accident show that the aircraft sustained damage to the left wing and nose.”
