The Austrian Federal Chancellery is currently warning about the danger of KO agents or drops information offensive on KO agents

“KO drugs” are drugs that have a stimulating and disinhibiting effect in low doses, but have an anesthetic and soporific effect in higher doses. An overdose can even lead to death.

In discos, bars or even at parties, these knockout agents are often mixed into women's drinks. The perpetrators can be strangers, but also acquaintances. The goal of these perpetrators is to rape the drugged victims.

Odorless, tasteless, colorless

Detecting the knockout agents in your drink is difficult because you can't see, smell or taste them.
The Federal Chancellery is now warning in its information offensive and giving tips on how to recognize that you could have become a victim of a KO attack:

Sudden dizziness, nausea, clouding of consciousness, loss of will and immobility can be typical signs of poisoning by knockout drops.

How can I protect myself?

  • Never leave your own drink unnoticed
  • After going out, leave the party with friends
  • Do not accept open drinks from strangers

I am a victim. What can I do?

  • Important: The person who administers these drugs is always to blame!
  • KO drops can only be detected in urine and blood for a maximum of 6 to 12 hours. Therefore, action must be taken quickly.
  • Support is offered by the police (133), the rescue service (144), advice on the wire (147) and the women's helpline against violence (0800 222 555).
