Unfortunately, there are a lot of web shops on the Internet that you can't necessarily trust.

We repeatedly receive inquiries about shops on the Internet that seem serious at first glance, but upon closer inspection have defects that should not be overlooked lightly. The online shop “wearetu” is a good example of this – you shouldn’t be blinded by very cheap offers!

But how can you recognize a dubious shop? We would like to show this here using “wearetu” as an example!

Product images

Many shops use product images that other shops also use. So we looked for shops that use the same images and used the Google reverse search.

Suspicious: The products also appeared in many shops with more cryptic names, but most of the pages were no longer accessible.

Poor or no translations

With “wearetu” it becomes clear that the site was apparently not created by someone who spoke German. Some of the texts on the site are translated into English or are translated erratically; in other places, texts have simply been forgotten.

Misleading social media buttons

Reputable online shops often have Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram pages to sell their products and be a contact for customers. On “wearetu”, however, these buttons simply lead to the main social media pages. You can see this when you move the mouse pointer over the icon; the link will then be displayed at the bottom left of the browser.

No real contact options

At “wearetu” there is no contact form and no domestic address. You can only contact us by email; the address given is a business district in Hong Kong . If you Google the phone number, you will come across many other online shops that have the same phone number but have already been deleted.

Anonymous domain owner

On the site http://whois.domaintools.com you can see who the owner of a site is - usually anyway. Because the owner of “wearetu” has allowed himself to be made anonymous , which doesn’t exactly speak for seriousness:

The owner has anonymized himself for a fee

Customer reviews

It is also helpful to search for the online shop using Google, because with the search term “wearetu” you quickly come across a consumer protection page where a customer of the shop complains that you can pay with Paypal, but the shop is not open Respond to revocations and continue to send invoices instead.

Conclusion

Based on the above evidence, one can strongly assume that this is a dubious online shop.
