imageWe have just received a lot of reports that a new virus (Trojan horse) is being sent via “personal message”. There is only one link in the message and many users are already clicking on it because they think it is a photo on Facebook itself because you can see the following in the link: "facebook-images.php". However, the link does not lead to the Facebook images but to a page with the URL "imaij.com" and behind the link there is a Trojan horse (Win32.Zbot-NPU [Trj].

This is what the message looks like!

Please be careful if you receive a message with the URL http://www.imauj.com/facebook_images.php?image=IMG****************.JPG !

After clicking on the link, our antivirus software from avast! displayed a warning and reported to us that this was a “Trojan horse”.

The mimikama antivirus expert Christian Singhuber (avast! antivirus center) sent us the following information about this Trojan horse:

The Trojan Win32.Zbot-NPU [Trj] belongs to the wide circle of the Win32.Zbot tribe. The goal of most members of this tribe is to read sensitive Internet data of the affected user .

This includes, among other things
passwords ,
certified websites visited and
cookies .

The combination of passwords and certified websites is particularly dangerous here, as all variants are combined using a subsequent automated routine - and in the worst case, access to a user's sensitive website can be gained.

To protect yourself, the well-known rules apply:

– An up-to-date antivirus program with real-time protection

– An active firewall (preferably 2-way – data traffic in/out)

– Do not click on files of unknown origin

– Do not click on links with dubious content (even from friends!)

The antivirus expert, Christian Singhuber will be with you on November 2nd, 2011, at the first "Think first - then click" event, give us an answer when it comes to the topic: computer virus without end - why is that actually the case?!

We would like to invite you to this event, which will take place LIVE on Facebook!
