Ramp - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in the area of responsibility of the Neubrandenburg police headquarters (PI areas Neubrandenburg and Stralsund), there have been three similar cases of attempted thefts from hotels in connection with previous telephone room reservations since February 5, 2017, each at night.

What all cases had in common was that a male caller made a room reservation over the telephone during the course of the day. Since the receptions of the affected hotels are not staffed all the time and arrival should always only take place after the reception has closed, it was agreed that the room key should be left behind.

As a result, no one stayed in the booked rooms nor paid for them, but on the respective nights in these hotels, offices were broken into and searched and valuables were attacked.

In the three cases of this type that have come to light so far, the unknown perpetrator or perpetrators were unable to complete the theft. Nevertheless, the total damage caused amounts to several hundred euros.

It can be assumed that there is a connection between the telephone reservations against the background of an alleged late arrival and the attempted thefts.
