Numerous fraudsters offer various offers to get you to work as a back office employee or as an app tester, for example. In most cases, recruitment takes place via the Internet, sometimes through supposed acquaintances.
The “tasks” in the job offered
If you have accepted this “job”, you must make your own existing account available for transfers. You should transfer incoming amounts of money immediately, often to accounts located abroad.
Attention: The incoming funds are often funds from other fraud crimes. By forwarding it, you are making yourself liable to prosecution and could face criminal charges for money laundering.
Don't become the accused yourself
In some cases, fraudsters also open new accounts, usually with an online bank. The victims have to verify themselves using the video identification process (hold their ID card up to the webcam) and the fraudsters use this to open an account at the bank without their knowledge. The perpetrators then use this to commit crimes.
Sometimes the accounts are also used as target accounts, for example in connection with goods fraud on online classifieds portals or messenger fraud.
In these cases, the police will investigate you as the account holder after the fraud has occurred. This means you yourself become an accused of fraud or money laundering.
The tips from the Bielefeld police:
Never make your account available to others, even for seemingly harmless transfers! Under no circumstances should you pass on your access data for bank accounts or online banking to third parties! Be careful as soon as the video identification process is used - an account is usually opened at a bank without your knowledge!
