imagePlease watch out for this new alleged link to a video! If you click this link, you will be redirected to an external, replica “Facebook” website. Internet fraudsters pretend that you first have to download a browser plug-in before you can see the video. When you install the plugin, this link is distributed to the entire friends list as well as to all “pages” on which the user has clicked “Like”, and with this “technique” the fake has already spread thousands of times on Facebook.

This is what the posting looks like:

This is the page behind the link:

Here you can see that users are asked to make an “update” for the YouTube player.

If the user now clicks on “Install”, a browser plugin is installed, which in turn distributes the link to the entire friends list.

Furthermore, such “plugins” can also monitor the “surfing activities” of the user and redirect the user to “survey pages”.

On these “survey pages” the user could be asked to fill out a survey and then provide their personal information and telephone number.
Ultimately, many of these fake links are only there to make money by completing surveys. On the Internet there is talk of 1-3 dollars per completed survey!

If you fall into the trap then...

1.) Remove the plugin you just installed

2.) Remove the posting from your wall

3.) Change your password on Facebook

4.) Tell your friends about your mishap and share our post with them!
