Lübeck - Since the beginning of 2017, there has been an increase in acts of fraud at the front door in St. Lorenz North and in Lübeck city center by simulating an emergency situation.

A woman rang the doorbell of mostly older residents and pretended to be a neighbor who had recently moved there. She said that she had locked herself out of the apartment and asked for a sum of money so that she could take a taxi to her holiday apartment in Scharbeutz. A spare key is supposed to be stored here.

After the helpful neighbors lent her amounts of money between EUR 20 and EUR 200, the woman was no longer seen. It turned out that the person doesn't even live in the neighborhood. In two cases, the woman gained unauthorized access to the apartment and stole money and a watch.
