It's that time again, the Mimikama office received a heated headline in response to a request: “Many people drink this drink every day. But they don’t know what they’re doing to themselves.” Somehow…yes somehow this headline sounds familiar.

At least the headline, because we haven't seen the video before. It's about Cola - and what Cola does to the human body.

This message can be found on the entertainment platform “Good for You” under the title “This poison destroys your bones. But everyone drinks it, some every day!” [ 1 ] also the corresponding article. “Good for you” belongs to Heigt.co.

Harsh words – where do they come from?

The question now is where the entertainment platform “Good for You” gets these steep theses from. “Good for you” gives two different sources, neither of which are the origin of the content. Pulptastic under the article , and the text refers to the blog by a Dr. West Conner expelled. Well, the link to the last blog is correct, but where did the name “Dr. West Conner” is questionable because the blog is not run by a Dr. West Conner, but by Niraj Naik, a former pharmacist who now runs, among other things, the blog “The Renegade Pharmacist”.

In this article there is a diagram and a collection of different effects that cola has (can have) on the body. The Renegade Pharmacist website says that it is actually intended for entertainment rather than information about curing, preventing or treating diseases ( This website is for information and entertainment purposes only. It is not intended to cure, prevent or treat any diseases ).

However, this is still not the source!

The blogger also gets his information from elsewhere, namely from a Blistree article by author Wade Meredith from 2010 . This original from 2010 and has not provided any sources or scientific information to support these theses. Zero. Nothing. There are only 7 theories that describe what terrible things happen to the body within 60 minutes of drinking a can of Coke. An interesting fact is that this original article casually says the following about caffeine:

It is now assured that you'll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium, and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolytes, and water. […]

But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like hydrating your system, or building strong bones and teeth.

German Medical Journal 2006

Let's go back in time a little further: in 2006 [ 2 ] the German Medical Journal described in the article “Osteoporosis: Cola drinks as bone robbers?” Already that there are no significant connections, a study by Tufts University in Boston showed that, if at all (!) then Cola drinking women over 50 years of age have a 5.4 percent lower bone density in the Ward's triangle (skeletal area near the neck of the femur). non-Cola drinking women. No differences were found among men.

The Ärzteblatt also links to the original result: “Consuming cola may increase osteoporosis risk for older women” [ 3 ]. Here you can read even more clearly: there is no concrete evidence that Cola attacks the bones.

“There is no concrete evidence that an occasional cola will harm the bones,”

No destroyed bones

So there is nothing here about Cola being poison or destroying bones. Of course, everyone should be aware that Cola is not exactly the healthiest drink (author's note: I have been completely avoiding Cola for a long time). Even the author of the original article distances himself a little at the end of his 7 theses by calling for moderate consumption of all kinds of lemonade:

Coke itself isn't the enemy here. It's the dynamic combo of massive sugar doses combined with caffeine and phosphoric acid, which are found in almost all sodas. Moderation, people!

(Source: Blistree )

Likewise, the original article is already being torn up and refuted in the comments, largely due to unsubstantiated statements and sometimes misrepresentations. Of course, the author's goal is to point out that sodas and colas should be enjoyed in moderation, but the facts used are sometimes unfounded.

Drama, baby!

And now the entertainment platform “Good for You” has once again turned Cola into a bone-eating poison. This is of course completely exaggerated, even if the video is visually nice to look at.

But it's drama, it's hot, it's like boobs and cat pictures all in one ! But Heigt.co wouldn't be Heigt.co if that wasn't exactly what they wanted. Drama. The operators of the site ultimately say how much this “health information” from Heigt.co, or the entertainment platform “Gut für Dich” should be taken seriously :
