Every day on the Internet we come across stories where we are not sure what we have actually just seen or read.

But above all, stories that offer no logical explanation at the end are unsettling. Sometimes just a single piece of information is missing to complete a puzzle.

The website wanted to give us a thumbs up! probably in the truest sense of the word, fooling around a bit...

Under the title ' Such disgusting things we have in our noses ', one might easily believe that the following content could form itself in anyone's nose: (Warning! This video is not for the faint-hearted!)

But what is being removed from the man's nose here, no one will ever find in his nose without a reason.

Not a hoax, but a little confusing

Thumbs up! kept an important piece of information from us, which doesn't make the whole thing any less gross, but does let us know what the "thing" being pulled out of his nose actually is:

It is a nasal packing , which is used to treat nosebleeds and after nose surgery. A distinction can be made between anterior and posterior nasal packing.[1] Tamponades do not form on their own; they are deliberately placed there to stop nasal bleeding. Both main nasal cavities should always be tamponated in order to create appropriate counter pressure. [1] The material used is ointment-soaked gauze strips or compresses. [1]

The gentleman in the video had an anterior tamponade by Dr. 5 years ago. Dumas removed.

Wearing and removing the tamponade is particularly uncomfortable, but does not cause any pain. Normally you only have to wear the tamponade for a few days at most and not weeks. In some operations, the tamponade is removed after just 24 hours. (nasal septum)

The Alfried Krupp Hospital provides very well-explained information on the website:

Conclusion:

As long as you don't have any internal injuries to your nose that bleed incessantly, you won't need such a tamponade. This video shows how to remove an anterior nasal packing. Removal is very uncomfortable but does not cause pain. We wanted a thumbs up! probably just teach disgust a bit.
