Just a few days ago we reported that WhatsApp's new terms and conditions actually make it impossible to use, as from now on you confirm that you are AUTHORIZED to provide phone numbers from your WhatsApp contract!

Now we have found another point in the terms and conditions that seems a bit dubious to us.

Not only does WhatsApp plan to share more data with Facebook in the future, WhatsApp also wants to enable other companies to send advertising as messages.

This is the following passage:

“Messages you receive that contain marketing may contain offers about something that interests you”

This is how WhatsApp describes the effects of its new rules for users FAQ

However, one sentence below it says:

We don't want you to feel like you're receiving spam. As with all of your messages, you can manage these communications and we will follow your choices.

However, what this will look like exactly is not yet known.

WhatsApp gives other examples of how companies could use WhatsApp in the future: “to receive information about orders, transactions and appointments, delivery and shipping notifications, and product and service updates.”
