Microsoft's latest features for the Chromium open source platform can benefit not only Windows 10's default Edge browser, but also Google Chrome.
Google and Microsoft have confirmed that they are working together to improve Chromium's audio output. However, there have been problems with this as it has been repeatedly reported that some users are experiencing audio playback issues after watching YouTube videos on the Windows 10 version of the Chrome browser.
YouTube: Lots of complaint reports
In some cases, users have reported audio issues that prevented them from listening to the video through their PC speakers. According to Google, YouTube receives hundreds of reports every day from users complaining that videos won't play on desktop computers. 95% of reports come from Windows users only.
Google believes there are several reasons for the audio problem: the user accidentally muted YouTube and changed the output device (this happens when the user has two monitors with audio connections). Or the Windows 10 driver is responsible.
It is currently not clear when the fixes will be rolled out.
