ZDDK wall showing a red Ferrari. (It was actually a USB stick shaped like a Ferrari). An attentive ZDDK user immediately left a comment with the following content: "Attention, this is a spambot ." We immediately took a closer look at this " spambot " and at the same time we received 9 emails from ZDDK users, who also informed us that such dubious postings had also been left on their "PAGE". As it stands at the moment, “only” pages are affected by this “ spambot attack ” but not “private profiles”! We have described what a spambot

What is a spambot?

A spambot is a program that specifically searches for email addresses on the Internet. Some web crawlers are able to crawl websites as well as chat conversations. Since email addresses always follow a consistent format ( [email protected] ), spambots are comparatively easy to write.

A spambot is a bot (program) that spams on Facebook (but also in forums and blogs). He puts a link (URL) in the posts that leads to a specific commercial website (in this case to various web shops)

The idea behind it is to build as many links as possible on Facebook in order to get as many visitors as possible, which in turn ensure the sales of the site (the web shop).

What we're not entirely sure about at the moment, however, is how spammers can post in the name of the respective user!

One theory would be that Facebook accounts were hacked here.
We have already mentioned the topic of phishing attacks many times!

See article from November 29, 2011: Phishing attack with the title: If you still want to use Facebook, Please confirm your account below…:

Another theory is that fake profiles were created especially for this campaign.

How to recognize a spambot!

1.) On a product photo . In this example it is a red Ferrari

2.) A spambot always starts with a number . In this example with "1548"

3.) There is a link .image In this example:

4.) Most of the time the user , who is also the “author” of the actual posting, comments on the posting with a confirmation. In this example: "3930 (A number again) and "sweet, in Ferrari shape"

Here are more examples we received from ZDDK users:

If you click on a link you will be taken to a web shop!

If you see something like this on your wall, it's best to just delete it from the spam!
