Berlin – A witness to a homophobic insult was slightly injured on Sunday afternoon in Moabit.

When he filed a police report, the 29-year-old stated that he, a friend and two acquaintances witnessed a homophobic insult at around 5:50 p.m. A man who had two small children with him is said to have insulted an obviously gay couple at the tram stop at the main train station.

The 29-year-old then spoke to the stranger, whereupon a scuffle broke out between the two. As the incident continued, the unknown man then pushed the witness, who fell onto the tram tracks. Passers-by who were not known by name then pulled the 29-year-old off the tracks. Fearing another confrontation, the attacked man and his companions then got on a tram and drove to police section 31.

The unknown attacker remained at the stop. The offended couple remained unknown. The 29-year-old suffered minor injuries to one arm and abrasions to the skin. Medical treatment was not necessary.
