For hours we have been receiving countless inquiries about a status post on Facebook on the topic: “Syrian refugees are said to have kicked a stroller”

Update / editor's note: Currently (December 28th / 29th, 2019) an article is being increasingly shared on Facebook again. We would like to point out that the article/incident dates from December 28, 2016 and the status may have been outdated in the meantime! The reason for the renewed spread is probably Facebook's “reminder function”. Unfortunately, very few users read the year, 2016!

Alternative and opinion-based websites report that these were Syrian refugees who jumped foot first into a stroller. The child himself had to be cared for by an emergency service.

Yes, on December 25th, 2016 there was actually a fight on a night bus on line 9011 (replacement of line 1) in which several people were involved. This was also confirmed by the police. This included Syrian nationals who probably got into an argument because of the stroller that was left on the bus.

The Augsburger writes:

“During the altercation there were insults and massive fistfights between several people, in which several people involved and also a one and a half year old child suffered injuries. The child was then given first aid by rescue workers...”

However, transport to the clinic was not necessary!

The course of events is still unclear and how the child was injured has not yet been determined. An eyewitness reported to the Augsburger that one of those involved stepped into the parked stroller with the sole of his foot first. Further details of the circumstances and context of the dispute are currently the subject of police investigations.

The Bavarian police themselves published the following police report on December 27, 2016:

Call for witnesses after fights on the night bus

City center - On Sunday (December 25, 2016), at 9:05 p.m., following the evacuation, there were scuffles between several people on the night bus on line 9011 (replacement of line 1).

These were Syrian nationals who probably got into an argument because of a stroller that was left on the bus.

As part of the dispute, insults and massive fistfights broke out between the people, in which several people involved and a 1 ½-year-old child suffered injuries. The child was then given first aid by rescue workers. A transfer to the Augsburg Central Hospital was not necessary.

The detailed circumstances and context of the dispute are currently the subject of investigations. Therefore, people who observed the incident or who may have been injured themselves are asked to contact PI Augsburg Mitte on 0821/323-2110. ( Source )
