Quotes or statements from politicians are constantly circulating on the Internet that cause a stir or a shake of the head. “Did they really say that??”

Many of the quotes were often not made at all or not in exactly this form. Some, taken out of context, give a completely different meaning.

We have now received requests for quotes from Green Party politicians, which we have examined. This time it's about these quotes:

No. 1: Margarete Bause

“Just because someone is raped, robbed or has a high level of criminality is not a reason for deportation. Instead, we should take care of him and accept him as he is.”

Margarete Bause commented on this on Facebook in 2018:

We also reported on this – see our article from August 2018 here .

So the quote is fake.

No. 2: Stefanie von Berg

“It’s a good thing that we Germans will soon be in the minority.”

This quote has been floating around the internet since at least the beginning of 2016. See our article on this from January 2016 here .

Here, Stefanie von Berg's statements were taken from a speech to the citizens of Hamburg and adjusted. The central sentences here were in the original:

“I am of the opinion that in 20 or 30 years we will no longer have any ethnic majorities in our city.”

“And I’ll tell you very clearly: That’s a good thing.”

Here the “mixing” was carried out until the statement corresponded to the ideas of the misquoters.

No. 3: Jürgen Trittin

“The immigration debate is not going well, we are primarily concerned with reducing the German population in this country.”

The quote was not attributed to anyone here and was also reproduced incorrectly (the fake of the fake). We already knew it, it's basically an old acquaintance for us. In and of itself it read: “This is not about right or wrong in the immigration debate….”

As I said: Old friend, you can find our article from 2017 here .

The quote is fake.

No. 4: Katrin Göring-Eckardt

“The sexual assaults in Schorndorf can by no means be excused, but they show a cry for help from the refugees because their feelings are not respected enough by German women.”

As early as August 2017, we found out that this statement was also made up - probably to harm the Greens. You can find our .

Göring-Eckardt even took legal action against this, as you can read on the Bavarian Radio .

The quote is fake.

No. 5: Petra Klamm-Rothberger – the special “delicacy”

“In the perpetrator’s homeland, women who are raped are sentenced to death. That's why he had to kill her after raping her. We need to understand these cultural differences.”

This supposed quote is a very special one. Why? It is a “double fake”. There's absolutely nothing wrong here.

The statement was never made that way.
Because how is that supposed to work if the politician in question doesn't even exist? But it has been in the depths of the Internet for a very long time. Because as the saying goes? “The Internet never forgets.” – Well, there might actually be something to that. Here you can find our report from December 2016 on this double fake. And here again in more detail with a second example of what's behind it. – It’s worth taking a look, it comes as quite a surprise!
