Frankfurt am Main/Dortmund/Altenkirchen and Northeim districts – In three independent investigations, officers from the Frankfurt am Main customs investigation office found a total of 17 firearms requiring a license, 2,312 rounds of ammunition, ten prohibited items (2 knives, 8 brass knuckles) and 2,711 prohibited pyrotechnic items from three suspects ensured.

The investigations are directed against an 81-year-old from the Northeim district (Lower Saxony), a 54-year-old from Dortmund and a 46-year-old from the Altenkirchen district (Rhineland-Palatinate), who independently sold illegal firearms and ammunition worth should have ordered and purchased a total of 25,000 euros. The seizures were made at the end of May and June 2017 during searches of the accused's apartments.

“A particularly dangerous situation arose for our emergency services with the 81-year-old from the Northeim district, who kept some of the firearms seized from him ready to fire in his access area. According to him, he wanted to be prepared for all eventualities, hence his arsenal of weapons,”

said Hans-Jürgen Schmidt, spokesman for the Frankfurt am Main customs investigation office.
